Dustin Penland
Owner/General Contractor
Dustin earned a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management with a minor in Business Administration from Western Carolina University. While in college, he was a member of the Western Carolina baseball team as well as director of Western Carolina’s Construction Management Club in affiliation with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
As a field manager for CENTEX, Dustin scheduled and coordinated a team of sub-contractors through daily operations of residential home construction. He assessed punch work in the field for project closeouts and was responsible for home owner walk-throughs during pre-settlement orientations, while also playing a key role in the construction management process of over 20 homes in Bear Lake Reserve.
Our clients appreciate that Dustin is hands-on from start to finish throughout the building process by being on site at least three-four days per week.
As project manager and superintendent at Briarwood Construction, he performed cost estimates, scheduling, quality control, material management, coordination of sub-contractors, provided assistance with RFI’s, held safety meetings, site superintendence, surveying and drafted plans for owners’ approval.
The projects with Briarwood include: the 1780 Camp Lake James Social Hall in Marion, North Carolina, which includes a self-leveling Olympic size pool, amphitheater, expedition center, “C” Cabin and amenities. Dustin was a key player in the construction of the Penner Cabin in the Old Wildlife Club. He has also worked on one of Asheville’s most sought-after gated communities, South Cliff, where he superintended the construction of the pavilion.
